Well, we did it. We survived the first week of kindergarten!
AND…we did it with no tears!
She’s been way too excited to go to kindergarten, and it finally came. And went.
Seeing my little girl run onto that great big playground was easy, she’s done that a million times before.
But, seeing her run away to her classroom when the bell rang, well…that was a different story. She gave us big hugs and kisses and then waved to us like she was headed off to collegeThat was when the sadness creeped it’s way into my heart. She followed in line so perfectly, keeping her eyes on her daddy and me…until she was safe inside her classroom and we couldn’t see her anymore. I choked up just a bit, and then hid the tiny little tears behind my sunglasses. And then, it was over.
I waited for a whole 2 1/2 hours at home, pretty much doing nothing at all. Then, I got her back! Yay. What I didn’t prepare myself for though was the little chatterbox she would become the second she jumped in the car! I was happily amused at the way she described her day down to the very last detail. She has 3 Madison’s in her class, her teacher has blue eyes, Zachary was her best friend that day because he had blonde hair just like her, they read a story about a raccoon and his mommy, and they did the fire drill dance…and on and on and on!
What a great start!
I took some pictures of her a few days before school started…
Happy 2012-2013 school year…hope it’s a great one for everybody!
