On some occasions, feeling angry may be my forte.
All patience flies away with the wind and I’m left with frustration that is beyond control.
I literally feel chained up in anger with no way out.
“A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.”
Proverbs 29:11
Darn it Stacey, why can’t you just remember this.
Yesterday, everything that could happen to a frustrated mother happened.
You have to know that I am trying to slowly wean my youngest child from breastfeeding, that in itself is a difficult task.
As I gave into him yesterday afternoon, my other sweet boy cracked and slathered raw eggs all over the kitchen floor.
My daughter watched him.
As I put my youngest in his bed for a nap, he quickly woke up.
So, by now, I was faced with cleaning up egg yolk with 2 crying children at my feet.
FYI- raw eggs are NOT easy to clean!
Throughout the rest of the afternoon, spill after spill occurred.
The Christmas tree was knocked over breaking a few very special ornaments.
My son urinated in the bathroom sink.
Chap-stick was washed in the laundry destroying an entire load.
Yes, this ALL happened yesterday.
I had plenty to be angry about, and my selfish nature told me that I had a right to be angry.
My journey to lasting patience has been a long road.
Given the circumstances above, ranting around all afternoon and then giving my husband an earful when he got home would have been my natural reaction.
However, I am so thankful for God’s lasting patience for ME!
He’s slowly teaching me how a wise, loving mother can steer her attitude in the right direction.
I handled my situation with patience and love yesterday.
Yes, I was mad, but I found a way to control my anger so that I didn’t regret my words or actions later.
I’ve been there, plenty of times…it’s no fun.
Fighting anger is a daily battle for me.
I’m thankful to have friends and other role models in my life to remind me of how a godly woman directs her family.
Today, I am praying for lasting patience for all of us.
My motto after yesterday has become…
When all of the eggs in your life crack, piece them together one prayer at a time!
Hopefully you can get a good laugh at this photo.
This is only ONE side of my kitchen, and don’t forget the eggs dripped all down my fridge and all over my sink too!
FUN TIMES!!
*to give my son a little credit, he wasn’t just being naughty. He was looking for hard-boiled eggs, his favorite snack.
*and to give me a little credit, I do watch my children. I was in the bedroom with the door shut trying to get my other son down for a nap. The other two were supposed to be having quiet time in their rooms. I guess quiet time in the kitchen was better!
